The 1860 Census of Rio
Colorado (Present Day Questa) lists JOSE YGNACIO QUINTANA and MARIA FRANCISCA
JIRON as being born in Taos County.Checking the Taos County Baptisms
reveals that there was only one (1) JOSE YGNACIO QUINTANA and only one (1)
MARIA FRANCISCA (G)JIRON born in Taos County between 1701 and 1852...The
Ages and Date Of Birth listed in the various census
are almost never
accurate but this ones are close.The 1860 Census
says Jose Ygnacio Quintana was 25 Years old that would
make his DOB 1835,the baptism records lists it as 1834 and Maria Francisca Giron
as 16 Years old making her DOB as 1844 and the baptism records lists it as
1843...Keeping all that in mind and suggesting that
you as always
confirm all of the information,no matter from whom
or where one gets it...Following is the information found...

"Eight months after
having left Mexico City,Miguel de Quintana and
Gertrudis Moreno de Trujillo entered the Villa de Santa Fe
with the other colonists on June 23,1694."
Miguel Matias de
Quintana was one of New Mexicos first Poets. His
writtings came to the attention of the Inquisition.He died in
Santa Cruz Dela Canada at the age of 71.
