Acosta, Leonel
January 02, 2000,
Albuquerque Journal, Page: 7, Taos -- A 16-year-old
Ranchos de Taos boy
was killed early Saturday morning in a one-car accident
when he apparently lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a
tree on Ranchitos Road. Taos Police Officer Lee Totman said the victim, Leonel
Acosta, was the brother of 21-year-old Luis Acosta, who is
awaiting trial on a
charge of murder in the death of 18-year-old Erik Sanchez
of Espanola. Sanchez
was hurled to his death off the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge on
Nov. 23, 1998. Another
man, David Sandoval, pleaded guilty in the killing.
Totman, who investigated the Saturday accident, said the victim was not
wearing a seat belt and was apparently flung into the right rear seat of his car
when it bounced off of the tree, spun around and smashed into a second tree. The
accident occurred sometime between 3 and 3:30 a.m., police said. A member of the Taos
Volunteer Fire Department happened on the scene and called police. The body has been
turned over to the Office of the Medical Investigator in Albuquerque for autopsy and to
determine if alcohol was a factor in the accident, police
said. Totman said it
appeared that the teen had been driving too fast and
failed to negotiate a
turn in the road. The vehicle was traveling east on
Ranchitos Road at the time of the crash.

Aigner, Walter Anton
January 1, 2007 Walter
Anton Aigner born in Ried im Innkreiss, Austia on April
18, 1935 died in his
home shortly after Christmas 2006. Father to Kresanna, 35,

he was 21, where he

piano. Following his nose
for a good ski slope he moved to Stowe, Vermont, there he
turned his hand to construction.
In 1970 he met Maggie and married and had Kesanna and
Marcus. Walter left
the construction business due to a back injury. After his
divorce from Maggie, and as full time provider of the children he turned
his eye to antique dealing and a variety of creative business ventures. Kresanna
and Marcus moved to Scotland in their teens to spend time with their mother, this
was an opportunity for Walter to move on and with a love for the arts and skiing settle
in Taos, NM with his beloved dogs. He then had time to further explore his creative
talents. His neighbors nicknamed him "10X12" or fondly "Pitbull" because of the unusual
house he built and his determined personality. Walter Aigner an incredibly independent
mans who never gave up on his quest for adventure, new discoveries and the desire to
develop and turn his hand to many skills and crafts. We know he found contentment in Taos
and was very much at home here. He has left behind a family that will always have
constant love, admiration and respect for all that he was
and achieved in his
life. After a lifetime of travels we hope he finds peace
in his final place of rest.
The family would also like to thank friends and neighbors
for the support and love they have shown him. Upon Walter's request
there will be no formal memorial service and his body was cremated. However, his
children would like to extend an invitation to friends and neighbors to join us for an

Anderson, Peggy H.
Peggy H. Anderson,
passed through this world peacefully on October 9, 2006.
Peggy was born on Dec
21, 1931 in Clarkston, WA, to Irma R. and Louis B. Hagan,
Peggy graduated from
Edmonds High in 1950. She married Robert W. Anderson, Jr.
in 1953, together they
had four children. Peggy went on to enjoy a 32 year career
at the Virginia Mason
Clinic, treating cancer patients and forming lasting and
wonderful relationships with her colleagues and her many patients. While
juggling the demands of raising her family and her career, Peggy still found
time for volunteer work with various agencies, such as the Georgetown Service Center. Peggy
retired to collecting art antiques, knitting and her
lifelong passion: great
books and a good cup of coffee. She spent the last few
years in her homes on
Capitol Hill in Seattle and in Ranchos De Taos, New
Mexico, enmeshed in the lives of her children Paige, Dana (Robert),
Trey (Laura) and Megan, and her beloved, ambitious grandchildren Christa,
Taylor, Chase, Whitney, Garren and Griffin, who are her gifts to the world. Peggy is
survived by her 4 children, 6 grandchildren, Brothers
David and Rodney (Mary
Lou) Hagan, her nieces Peggy, Cindy and Kirsten, and her
nephews Danny, David,
Chip, Craig and Scott, and her sisterinlaw Chick Hagan.

this life by her brother Ken Hagan. Befitting Peggy's life
of commitment to service
and community, our family wants to honor Peg's wish that

Anderson, Wendell
Wendell Anderson, 85,
died August 15, in Albuquerque. Born in St. Maries, ID, to
Swedish immigrants, he
played football for Lakeview, OR's high school, began
writing and publishing
poetry then, and continued through life, with prose, too.
He lived awhile in the Henry
Miller group at Big Sur, CA. Also an artist, he believed
he was a descendent of philosopher,
Swedenborg. His poems are about nature, family, the
West...and Universe. Some
will be in Taos Historical Society's new book. He carried
mail in OR, worked for the Forest Service and Social Service in NM,
helped clear Taos' first ski run, drove the Harwood Bookmobile to outlying
schools, and taught creative writing in New Hampshire. He was known for his drive,
stick-to-itness and fierce loyalty to them he cared about,
focusing on immediacies
and profundities more than "betweens"--happiest when on or
facing a mountain. He was
an original "beyond words"...unless description of the
outfit he chose for
his 911 call and 6 blks. ambulance ride, at dawn, to the
hospital, widebrim straw, Hawaiian shirt, chinos, mountain shoes and
buffalo-nichol bolo tie. No wonder so many people loved him! Bereaved include
Petite, his female dachshund, 18, and Frances Root, his constant companion the past 13
years of Albuquerque; his son, Martin Belloc of Mill Valley, CA; niece, Lisa Shearer;
brother-in-law, Harlan Olson of OR; cousin, Sonny Espling and wife, Pia and Kim, Ellen
and Elias of Sweden; sister-in-law, Virginia Snyder; niece, Wendy MacNeil and husband,
Ronald and Jazi and Noah; nephew, Gordon Snyder and wife, Stell and Linnea
and Sarae all of New Hampshire; nephew, John Snyder and wife, Rebecca and Harris and
Emmitt of Canada; brother-in-law, Dr. Ronald Ferry Jr. and wife, Sylvia; nephew, Charles
Ferry; niece, Elizabeth Ferry; niece, Sylvia and husband, Edward Smith and Lindsey
and Nathan of VT; his extended family of over 60 years, fellow-poet, Judson Crews and
Mildred Tolbert, Carole Crews, Iris McLoughlin all of Taos, Anna Bush Crews of Wales,
Sohrab Crews of London, Ariana Koers and husband, Alex Koers and Nikeo of Albuquerque,
Edwina McLoughlin of San Francisco; "step-children", Francie Sterling and
husband, Ken, Kristina Sterling and Eileen Sterling of CA. He was predeceased by parents,
Gustav, a lumber-grader, and Ebba Isaacsson Anderson; sisters, Gloria Anderson
and Barbara Shearer; and uncle, Arvid Anderson, who when Wendell was a tot, lived
with the family high in the center of a meadowed slough that in winter became a
frozen lake; wife of 30 years, Emily Ferry; "step-son", Clarence Sterling; and
"step-dachshund", Dudley. An October service is being

Lilly, but was subsequently drafted by the US Army where he served out the remaining
part of the war in Germany. Returning to New Mexico he worked first as a chauffer, then

Heating. His knowledge was passed to a multitude of
individuals that
continue to support their families with the trades to this
day. In 1996 he co founded Four Winds Mechanical with his sons. In
addition to passing along skills in the trades, he also taught countless people how to
hunt, fish, camp and survive in the wilderness and the rest of the world. Thank you, Daddy
