Dale, Jerry Jack Sr.
Jerry Jack Dale Sr., 66,
passed away Sunday, October 3, 2004 after a battle with Emphysema. Peacefully, he surrendered
the battle, as he was surrounded by his beloved wife and daughters. Jerry was preceded
in death by his son, Jerry, and parents, Rusco and Harriett Dale. He is survived by
his wife, JoAnn; daughters, Angelyna and Kathy (Eldon); son, Mark (Raven);
stepchildren, Jessica, Joni, and Jonah Roybal;
grandchildren, Kendall,
Bailey, Gabriella Dale, and Asha Scott. Jack was an artist
and designed clothing with
a turn of the Century feel. A church service was held at Rio
Rancho Presbyterian Church
where he was a member. Some of his ashes will be scattered
in Kansas, where he was
from, and in Taos where his son, Jerry, is buried. Jack will
be remembered for his compassion,

15, 1959 - August 12, 2001 Wayne Dallas, a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico for over ten
years, died unexpectedly on August 12, 2001 as a result of a tragic auto accident. He
was preceded in death by his father, Henry A. Dallas. Wayne is survived by his mother, Emma
Dallas; four brothers and sisters, Frank Dallas, Linda Dallas, Lucy Martinez, Henry
Dallas and wife, Vera Dallas; former wife, Corrine Dallas; son, Anthony Dallas; daughter,
Tanya Dallas and special friend, Rose Waterfield. Wayne also leaves behind nieces and

volunteer at St. Martins Hospitality Center where he provided community service
and live entertainment for the homeless with members of his band, the Vagabonds. In

Donn T. Davies 89, of El
Prado, NM passed away on September 10, 20005. In 1992 Donn was awarded the Chester A.
Reynolds Award at the National Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City, an honor reserved
for great figures in the American West. In 2004 he was inducted into the Culver Military
Academy Horsemanship Hall of Fame in Indiana for his equestrian accomplishments. He is
survived by his wife Henny, four children, Maria Scott of Mill Valley CA, Donn Davies
of Taos, NM, Charles Davies of Rio Rancho, NM, Susie Tate of Cimarron, NM and 9
grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Anne

DeVargas, 82, of Taos passed away on September 13, 2005. He was a world war two veteran
from 1942 to 1945, serving as a cook and medic in the South Pacific. He was a meat
cutter at the Plaza Supermarket for 22 years, ambulance director in the 1970's,
school bus driver, self employed farmer and rancher and sold flagstone. He was very well
known for his humor and his music. He was preceded in death by his wife Lena
Gonzales, his daughter Anna DeVargas Garcia, his parents, Delfina and Perfecto
DeVargas, his brothers, Abaleno Vargas, Tito DeVargas, Eduardo Devargas and Maria DeVargas
Martinez. He is survived by his children, Victor DeVargas (Susan) of Albuquerque, Jane
DeVargas of Albuquerque, Jesse DeVargas (Karen) of Taos, Theresa Salazar
(Ernesto) of Ponderosa, Loretta Cisneros (Cris) of El Prado, Albert DeVargas of Taos, Joseph
DeVargas of Texas, Elena Williams (Jimmy) of Taos, 19 grandchildren and 32
great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Lucy Carter of Santa Fe,
Ross DeVargas (Fabiola) of California, Angie Suazo (Gilbert) of Santa Fe, Tina Schmid of

(Patsy) of Georgetown, TX, George Dimas (Maria) of Taos, Raymond Dimas of Taos, Martin
Dimas (Francina) of Taos and Martha Martinez (Larry) of San Luis, CO. She is also
survived by her brothers and sisters, Ernestina Benavidez, Genara Jaramillo, Tony
Maestas, Rose Martinez, Alfonso Maestas, Mary Jane Sanchez, Ivan Maestas, Eremita Chaves,
sister-in-law Connie Dimas, 18 grand children and 10 great grand children.Rosary was

Margaret "Bettie"
Elizabeth Lins Ditto, 91, a longtime resident of Tucumcari,
NM, went to be with the
Lord on January 5, 2008, in Amarillo, TX after a brief
battle with leukemia. Her family was at her side. She was born on
September 14, 1916, in Arcola, IL to George and Marie Lyons Lins. She was preceded in
death by her son, Bobby Lyons Ditto; her sister, Mary Agnes Lins; and two brothers,
George and Tom Lins. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Hamilton Dick of
Portales, NM; her grandsons, Mark Hardage of Conchas, NM, Bobby Ferguson and wife,
Stacey of West Fork, AR, Jonn Beasley of Fraser, CO, and Ryan Hamilton and
wife, Jeana of Dalhart, TX; and granddaughters, Ashley Christian of Amarillo, TX, and
Kimberly Downs and husband, Mike, also of Amarillo, TX. She has eight
great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Bettie moved to
Tucumcari, NM, from Chicago, IL, in 1955 with her children.
Bettie's reason for coming
was to try to develop the property known as Lins Motor
Court, which she had inherited
upon her father's death. While working to get the financing
for her project, she made
her living as a legal secretary and for a time operated the
State Motor Vehicle License
Bureau from the office of the motel. Finally, in 1959, Mr.
John Farrell, a builder from
Amarillo, TX, was convinced that Bettie's ideas and plans
for development had some merit.
He knew she was a shrewd businesswoman and a hard worker and
agreed to start the
renovation by building 30 new units, a swimming pool, and a
restaurant and lounge. With
this beginning, her father's old place, which Bettie had
renamed The Lazy L, grew from
9 units to 92 and became the Best Western Pow Wow Inn
Restaurant and Lounge, including
the Pow Wow West and Pow Wow East, in just a few years'
time. At the time the
restaurant and lounge were being built, Bettie was able to
convince her brother, Tom and sister-in-law, Helen that they should
manage the new food and beverage operation and still continue to operate Lins
Restaurant. In the words of her sister, Agnes, "this turned out to be a 'stroke of genius'
because, with their help and Bettie's drive and ability in public relations, the Pow Wow soon
became a place of prestige." Bettie later moved on to other investments across the state
such as The Sheraton de Santa Fe, The Kachina Lodge in Taos, and Pendaries Village
in Rociada. However, her heart was always in Tucumcari. She remained very active in
the community by being a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church, St. Anne's Alter
Rosary Society, the Tucumcari Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, the board of
Highland's University, the Board of Tourism for New Mexico under several different
governors, the New Mexico Municipal League, the New Mexico Movie Commission and was an
active member of the Republican Party. In 1999, she was inducted into the New Mexico
Tourism Association Hall of Fame. Even at the age of 84, after selling the Pow Wow Inn,
she still wanted to promote the community of Tucumcari. She volunteered at the
Tucumcari Chamber of Commerce and was elected as a City Commissioner and served in that
capacity for 6 years. A Rosary will be held at the St. Anne's Catholic Church on January
10, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held on January 11, 2008 at 2:00 p.m.
at Tucumcari Convention Center. Interment will be in the family plot at the Tucumcari

Antonio Di Tulio in the Raton, NM Plaza, shot Dionisio
Bartolo in the stomach
with a pistol. Dionisio Bartolo fled into his brothers
Francisco Bartolo's house located nearby and laid on a sofa. His sister
in law (Francisco Bartolo) wife went to check Dionisio Bartolo to see what was wrong
when Antonio Di Tulio came into the house and started shooting. He shot Mrs. Bartolo
whom had her back to him, on the back of the head killing her instantly. Antonio Di
Tulio fled the scene, Francisco Bartolo came into his house and found his wife dead and his
brother dying. Learning that Antonio Di Tulio was the killer Francisco Dioniso armed
himself with a dagger. He tracked Antonio Di Tulio and they engaged in mortal combat. Antonio
Di Tulio was stabbed and killed.In all killed were Mrs. Francisco Bartolo (her name not

Dominguez, Jose Amado
After a medical career
spanning more than half a century, Dr. Jose Amado Dominguez
passed away in the company
of his family on January 3, 1999 at age 89, from the complications of age. Born to Jose
Inez and Virginia Rodriguez Dominguez in Chamisal on February 12, 1909, he was the
second of eight children to survive into adulthood. The devastation he witnessed as a child in
the great Influenza Epidemic of 1918 awakened the compassion of the future physician.
Forgoing a family tradition of education and achievement, he graduated from Menaul
High School and worked a number of jobs to save for college. At great personal
sacrifice, he finally graduated from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1936, one of
the first Hispano physicians from northern New Mexico. Based on his office on North
Pueblo Road, for decades Dr. Dominguez made house calls all over Taos County to
deliver babies, set broken bones, and lay his healing hands on the sick. During World War
II, he was a physician for the National Guard and served as Taos County Medical Examiner
during the 1970s. Dr. Jose Amado Dominguez was preceded in death by his parents;
and brothers and sisters, Henry, Polly, Isaac and Phil. He is survived by his wife of 53
years, Anita Clark Dominguez; their daughters, Carmela Dominguez, Carlota D. Lamadrid
(husband, Enrique Lamarid PhD), Charisse D. DeFlice (husband, John DeFlice, MD);
grandchildren in order of age, Carlos Lamarid, Gianna DeFlice, Armando Lamarid, Mario
DeFlice, Dominic Maes and Yasmin Lamarid; as well as his sister, Anita Chavez;
brother, George Dominguez, both of Ranchos de Taos; and sister, Carmen D. Holt of
Seattle, WA. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 9, 11:00 a.m., at

Juan Jose Dominguez, 102,
of Chamisal died Saturday November 8, 2003. He received his teachers certificate in Emporia,
Kan., and he graduated with a bachelor's degree in education from New Mexico Highlands
University. He was a teacher for 34 years in Taos County Schools and principal in 1964
in Chamisal. He was a Soil Conservation board member for many years and helped
establish the Senior Citizens Program in Taos County. He is survived by his wife,
Josefa; children, Melitona Maes and husband Aaron of Embudo, J.J. Dominguez Jr. and wife
Dora of Chamisal, Rose Maes and husband Daniel of Embudo, and Jerry Dominguez and
wife Edwina of Lawndale, Calif.; 17 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren; and sisters,

Anita Dominguez-Chavez,
age 93, of Ranchos De Taos died November 22, 2000. She was a retired schoolteacher. She will
be remembered as"My first teacher" by many in El Valle, Ranchos De Taos, Llano Quemado,
El Prado and Taos communities. She taught the lower grades for 33 years in the
elementary schools. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Bernabe
Chavez and by their son, David. She is survived by two daughters, Dolores (Dr. Gilbert) Cano
of Albuquerque and Virginia (Jerry) Laughlin of Ranchos De Taos; daughter-in-law,
Nedra (David, deceased) Chavez of Ranchos De Taos. She is also survived by nine
grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; her sister, Carmen Dominguez-Holt; and her
brother, George Dominguez of Ranchos De Taos; and numerous nephews and nieces. Vigil
service was held at Rivera-Hanlon Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, November 24, 2000.
Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. at San
Francisco De Asis Catholic Church with Father Tim Martinez officiating. Cremation will
follow the mass. her cremains will be interred at the Nuestro Padre Nazareno Cemetery next

Bill Dowling, age 69,
passed away on March 2, 2000, after four years of fighting a
heart condition. He is
survived by his wife of 49 1⁄2 years, Geraldine Brooks

Texas and moved with his family to Taos when he was five

their family to Albuquerque
in 1962 where Bill started his business Mesa Ent. He was
involved with the daily
operation of the business until his health began to fail.

Lucille M. Downs of Taos
passed away on September 19, 2006. She was born in Zanesville, OH on November 21, 1921.
She owned and operated for many years, Mr. Duffy's Kids Play Space and was loved
by many Taos children. Many knew her for her volunteer work with the Kit Carson
Museums. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Spung in 1970 and
second husband, Ralph Downs in 1985, sisters, Margaret Mace and Irene Alderman. She
is survived by her sons, Richard Spung II of Taos and John Spung of Monterey, CA,
grandchildren, Stacey Tomasello of Monterey, CA, Cameron Spung (Tesheena) of Taos,

time owner of Zella's Kitchen Shoppe in Eagle Nest, New Mexico. She is survived by
her husband, Thomas F. Duncan, sons, Thomas F. Duncan III (Joanna) of Louisiana,
Steve Duncan (Tammie) of Nebraska, Mark Duncan (Teri) of Louisiana, Dan Duncan
(Robyn) of Georgia, twelve grandchildren, brothers, Frederick H. Stephens (Ann) and Dr.
Edward Stephens (Kay) of Louisiana. Memorial service was held on October 27, 2005
at Eagle Nest Community Center. Funeral services were held in Lake Charles, LA.

Jr., 74, of Taos passed away on November 13, 2006. He was a
Air Force veteran. He was a
27 year employee of Shell Oil Company. Duke and Patricia were parents at Casa de Corazon in
Taos. He is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Duquette. He is survived by his
children, Bruce Duquette (Gisele), Michelle Peterson (Dan), Bryan Duquette (Kerri) and
eight grandchildren.Funeral service was held on Saturday, November 18, 2006 at 10 AM
at Rivera Chapel. Interment was held at Las Cruces Cemetery in Taos. In lieu of

passed away on Sunday, June 13, 1999 after a courageous
battle with cancer. Bea
was born October 5, 1956, the daughter of Ben and Cidelia

Embudo, New Mexico. Bea has been a Lab Technician with
Lovelace Health Care before
her illness. Bea is survived by her beloved companion,

passed away on Friday,
April 1, 2005. Carmen was born on June 11, 1925 to Francisco
and Augustina Romero in
Fort Collins, CO. She married Aniseto B. Duran on November
24, 1947. She was
preceded in death by her parents, as well as her late
husband Anisteto B. Duran,
Son Frank A. Duran, two daughters, Ramona Duran, infant
daughter Lucille Duran,
grand-daughter Karla Peinado, brother Manuel P. Romero,
sister Donaciana Contreras.
She is survived by her children, MaryAnne Snow and her
husband Mike, Waldo
Duran and his wife Marian, Patty Peinado and her husband

and her husband John, Julian Duran and his wife Yvonne Y.,

relatives and friends. Carmen was a loving wife, mother,

Guadalupe Catholic Church in Santa Fe, a rosary will follow
at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian

Duran, 93, of Vadito passed away on February 05, 2006. Corina was a well known educator and
lived a very active life following her retirement from the Penasco Schools. She was involved
in the County 4-H program, sponsoring an exchange program with Japanese
students. She undertook tax training with AARP and assisted the elderly with their taxes
from 1979 to 1993. She was an active member with the Carmelitas Catholic Society of
Rodarte. She was an avid gardener and crotchetier in her spare time. She will be missed
dearly by her family, friends and community. She is preceded in death by husband, Roger L.

Tarleton and her second husband was Carroll Dwire who survives her. Also surviving her is a
